The Academy at Ocean Reef
ACADEMICS
The Academy at Ocean Reef’s education is deliberately designed to bring out the unique, personal strengths of every child. By embracing the very concept of childhood, we have created an academic program that allows students to progress naturally and confidently from day to day, and year to year—prepared, grounded, joyful and emboldened. Because what a child learns, sees and feels today is the very fiber of what he or she will become.
The Academy at Ocean Reef is an independent, nonprofit, coeducational day school for students in Pre K3/Pre K4 through 8th grade. The school is located within the gates of the beautiful Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida, providing a safe and secure campus environment.
The Academy at Ocean Reef also offers a Seasonal Program which allows the children and grandchildren of members to spend time at Ocean Reef while keeping up with their home school. The students may attend The Academy for a minimum of one week or for several months throughout the school year. The students may work with their home school’s curriculum or in The Academy’s curriculum.

Spanish Education:
Spanish language is important in South Florida. Children with Spanish heritage who may speak Spanish at home often do not develop appropriate skills in reading and writing. Our objective is to develop skills in conversational Spanish and to enhance the reading and writing skills in the Spanish language for native and non-native Spanish speakers.
Computer Education:
We start computer education with special programs for younger children. Lower and middle school students have instruction on a variety of software programs that will enhance and reinforce their educational experience. We also have computers and tablets in the classrooms where they are used to reinforce and enhance academic skills.
Field Trips and Extracurricular Activities:
Art, music, drama, the Art Show, the Reading Rodeo, the Science Fair, physical education, holiday activities, golf, tennis, sailing and special field trips provide our students with opportunities to develop skills, talents and fulfill themselves outside the classrooms.
Security:
We place a high priority on the safety and security of students and staff. Cameras monitor the entire Ocean Reef community 24/7, In addition to the school’s own security measures during the school day.
After The Academy:
After The Academy at Ocean Reef, our students typically attend top-notch preparatory schools in Key Largo, Miami, or well-known boarding schools.
